Bug Bath Week.........

MATH:
· We are starting chapter 6.
· We are practicing facts.
· Please help your child use Touch math – dots on numbers.
· It really does help & work – no fingers!!!!

READING AND SPELLING:
· Our story is Bug Bath. In this story, two bugs get lost and end up in a bathtub.
· Language: plural nouns

· Reading Skills: story comprehension, maps, story elements, endings -ed

Phonics:

  • Lesson 29 - Spelling with ck and final k
  • Lesson 30 - Assessment
  • Lesson 31 - Digraph th {If the /th/ sounds like thimble - you can feel the air moving if you put your hand up to your mouth. If the /th/ sounds like this - you can feel your tongue vibrating. Both digraph sounds get underlined. /th/ like in this gets underlined and a line through it to show its different sounds.}
  • Lesson 32 - Digraph ng & suffix { The /ng/ like in sing or cling get underlined. If a word has a suffix added to it - like in walking, talking, running - the -ing suffix gets a box around it.
  • Lesson 33 - Suffix -ed {This suffix gets a box around it like in talked or watched.}
  • Lesson 34 - Digraph ee { This digraph gets underlined. A macron goes over the first e to show that it is a long vowel and says its name. The second e gets crossed off - we don't hear it at all.}
  • Lesson 35 - Assessment

    OTHER NEWS:
    Pizza Hut: Each time you read a book at home (baggie books can count) fill out a slice of pizza. Bring it in signed and at the end of the month they can get a pizza hut certificate.


    EVENTS THIS WEEK:
    · Coats: Send coats to school with your child. They need to fit and have working zippers. Hats would be a good idea for recess.

    EVENTS NEXT WEEK:
    · End of Grading period
    · Early Release: on the 26th –the kids will come home 2 hours earlier. Please pick up your child at 1:10 if they are a walker. The teachers have time to finish grades for the 9 weeks.
