The Shopping List Week.............

Phonics:

Lesson 69: ay

  • This sounds like a long a.
  • Underline the ay
  • Cross off the y
  • Put a macron on the a
  • Like in hay or say

Lesson 70: Assessment

  • Spell 5 words for me
  • code the words: night, numbers, puppy, fry, beetle
  • read these words to me: fought, bought, brought, thought
  • Read these sounds to me: igh, er, y (like in cry)
  • Match up sounds for igh, er, y (like in cry and in candy)
  • Write these words for me: after, sleepy, crispy, my, trying

Lesson 71: ar

  • This sound is an r - the bossy r takes over and you don't hear the a
  • Put a combination arc under the ar
  • Like in star or yard

Lesson 72: Digraph ch

  • This sound is like in cheese
  • Underline the ch

Food Pictures:

  • We are working this week on The Shopping List.
  • We are going to make a cupboard full of food.
  • Please bring in a few pictures of food by the end of week.
  • We are going to sort these pictures by healthy foods and unhealthy foods.

Spelling:

  • Practice test on Wednesday.
  • Final Test will be on Thursday.
  • There are now 12 words and not 10.
  • The last two words are sight words that are hard to spell.

Pen Pals

  • I need permission slips back soon for pen pals. Mrs. Mulford's class has sent out their letters. We should be getting them soon.

100 Day Projects

  • I need permission / understanding slips back for 100 day projects.
  • This project is to be done at home.
  • Do not hurry this project.
  • You have plenty of time to complete it. (Till Feb. 5th on the 100th day)
  • Come up with a creative idea of something to collect.
  • I put examples on the blog earlier. Refer to those pictures to get ideas. Try not to do exactly what is on there.
  • I put those on there to give you ideas and to show you the level of work that I expect. These projects got A+.
  • Any projects that does not have this level of neatness or care into it will not get an A+.
  • Please have your child spend TIME on this project.
  • I do not want it to be something they just threw together in 5 minutes.
  • Have some pride in this – they should be proud of it and want the whole school to see it in the hallway.
  • If they are drawing, use crayons, markers, glitter -- NO PENCILS!
