Sight Words:
- I have started to test your child to see if they know their sight words for the first 9 weeks.
- I will be sending home a copy of the word list and the words that your child does/does not know.
- Please practice the words they don't know before the end of the first 9 weeks.
- If they knew the word - I put a check mark or a line by the word. If they didn't know it - I left it blank or it has a circle.
Sight Word Flashcards:
- You can print off sight word flashcards on this site. Go on the right side to sight words. Click on 1st nine weeks and then download.
- You can put the words on an index card. Put 10 words in at a time. When they know the word - put in a new word. Take out the words that they know. Throw them back in a few times for review. It's important to have words in there that they do know to boost confidence!

What Does Pig Do? Links:
On the right side of the site - look for links for the story this week. I have uploaded many sheets to help out with the story and the spelling words.
- The spelling word practice. You can print off a sheet to practice writing the spelling words. We write our spelling words at the beginning of the week.
- Flashcards: This Worksheet is is sent home for HW during the week. The kids can use these flashcards as practice for the words in the reading story. It is important that they know these words. They appear several times in the story. Knowing these words can make reading the story much easier!
- Online Activities: This site goes to the producer of the book. They have different online activities that you can do that go along with the story.
- Word Search: We do this search on Fridays. You can print this off and use it as practice for learning how to spell the spelling words. It is a fun way to learn the letters!
- Spelling Letter Tiles: I made these tiles to help with spelling words. You can print these off during the week. There is a letter for every spelling word. You can print off these letters and move them around to make the spelling words. It makes it easier to use because there will be no extra letters to confuse them or waste them finding the letters that you need. We are going to use these 1-2 times a week for each list.
- Online Story: I found this site that has a few of the stories online. You could go to this site if you forgot your book at school when you needed to bring it home. Or, you could use it as extra reading practice. They can read the same story in a different format!

- Box Tops

Did you know that saving
Box Tops can earn your school money?
For the past 5 years, Central, thanks to Mrs. Jones, has been collecting Box Tops. She counts them, sends them in, and then we get money in return for the Box Tops!!!!! Box Tops can be found on Hamburger Helper boxes, Pillsbury Items, Ziploc Bag Boxes, etc. Cut them off and send them in!! When your child brings in 5 of them - I will give them a sticker. Every 5 box tops they will get a sticker. The class at the end of the year wins a pizza party that has the most!
