Leafy Names
What's more fun than jumping into a pile of fresh fall leaves? Writing your name with leaves! For each child, pencil her name in the middle of a sheet of poster board. Place the poster boards in a center along with a collection of colorful leaves and acorns. Invite each student to find her poster board and then glue pieces of the fall foliage onto the letters and the background.

Number Sequencing
October is National Popcorn Poppin' Month! Make a popcorn cutout for each child, then program each with a different number. Thread the cutouts onto a crepe paper necklace. To "string" popcorn as students wear their necklaces, have them hop around the room, imitating kernels of corn popping. When you call, "Make a string!" have youngsters hop to arrange themselves in numerical order, then join hands.
