We will start to work on chapter 7 on subtraction.

READING AND SPELLING:·
Our story is Splash.
It is a story about a girl that is in the rain.




Short e

· Language: irregular plural nouns (geese, mice, men, children)·
Spelling Words: short e.
Short e does not say its name. It's sound is like the e in elephant.
Reading Skills: Footprint Map, main idea, and context clues.

OTHER NEWS:
Book IT!!




  • Each time you read a book at home – write it down on a pizza slice.
  • When the slices are filled, bring it to school.
  • The books can be baggie books or the yellow reading book story. Any story that you read at home.
  • Put only one story down one time. No duplicates please!
  • Read, Fill it out, I’ll give them a Pizza Hut Certificate for a free pizza!!

Grace has already brought his in! Good job Grace!

EVENTS THIS WEEK:·


United Way Activities:



  • Monday: Wear a hat day
  • Tuesday: Wear PJ's to school
  • Wednesday: Drink a pop at lunch
  • Thursday: Wear your clothes inside out
  • Friday: Eat a candy bar at lunch

Picture Retakes


  • Picture Retakes are on Monday, October 20th.
  • Bring back the pictures that you didn't like.
  • If you were absent on the original picture day, you will need to get your picture take.
  • Everyone has to have their picture taken for the yearbook.

Red Ribbon Week:


  • Coloring contest papers are due on Friday.
  • Turn in to school with the child's first and last name and the teacher's name.

Coats:




  • Send coats to school with your child.
  • They need to have working zippers
  • Bring a hat, a scarf and gloves for recess just in case it gets cold.
  • It gets really windy on the playground.

· End of Grading period on Friday·




  • Early Release on Friday
  • Kids come home 2 hours earlier.
  • Pick them up at 1:10 if they are a walker.
  • This is due to the end of the grading period.
  • The teachers have time to finish up grading and do grades in Progress Book.

NEXT WEEK:
Fall harvest party



  • Friday, Oct. 31st from 1:20-1:50
  • This party will be in between our Title time and Art.
  • Unfortunately the kids are not allowed to dress up to school.
  • · Candy/Treats: You can send in some packaged candy or drinks for the 19 kids. Thanks!·
  • Ideas: Juice Boxes, Halloween pencils or toys, cookies, packaged candy, etc.
  • Thank you very much for all of your help!

  • Papers were sent home for you to sign and pick the day that you would like to come.
  • I want to meet with all parents.
  • Come prepared with any questions, concerns, etc.
  • Check out the conference times on the right side of the page. As I get in papers from parents, I am writing in times.
  • Keep in mind, times might change. You will receive a paper notice on the final time.
